Do you use social media to communicate with your clients?
If so, what kinds of content do you share with your clients on Facebook/Twitter? Do you find that your clients/participants like it?

My personal training company use social media to keep our clients up to date with anything new in health and fitness . We post news, workouts motivational quotes and nutrition information almost daily to our Tumblr blog (www. fitnessfirstaz.tmblr.com) which auto posts a link to our Facebook page and Twitter (not our personal pages but our company pages). Social media helps you reach not only your clients but thousands of people who may have never known about you. With more and more people turning to the internet for information as trainers (no matter how impersonal you may think it may be) we have to stay relevant. It also allows you to reach more people and network with other trainers and companies that may be able to help.

I use it to communicate with my student/athletes...I do NOT put any personal information on Facebook or Twitter. If I have to cancel a S/A/Q session due to weather,etc..I just tweet or use Facebook which is better than a phone tree of email blast. Hope this helps

Personal Training.. The words just scream, direct vice through social media. How do you know your client is logged in? If they are their sitting on their butt! I either contact them directly via phone or text. And with the clients We train most don't subscribe to social media.

I do use social media to promote my classes, but only as a supplement. Mostly, when I am launching a new class, I post it on facebook. This helps to put the word out there to individuals who may not be on my mailing list. It also allows others to "share" the event. I have gotten many new clients just through a current client or friend sharing the event on their own page.

Social Media is a EXCELLENT way to communicate with your clients/patients. It is not only a great avenue to communicate but it will serve also as a marketing tool. When others read upon the the communication and see that you are personable and are down to earth, up to date with current trends (aka facebook, twitter etc) you will only propel yourself, and your business. With that being said, results are always the BEST way to take it a step further. Document results with pictures and comments that EVERYONE can see (with consent from your client of course*) and the client/patient should be impressed with the care/compassion you took pride in displaying there hard work/dedication as well as having people catch on and gaining new clientele!

I guess, I am somewhat behind the times when it comes to social media. I have a facebook page but never look at it. If I were not getting e-mails about it into my inbox, I probably would never even go there. To be honest I only created the page because it was the thing to do.
That certainly answers the question of whether I use it to communicate with my clients: I don't.
However, I recently made the discovery how to posts events, and it is my plan to put classes and courses up there and just see what happens. However, I rely on different modes of communication.

I do not use social media to communicate with clients. I feel that a phone call is usually in order. If I have ample time, I will occasionally send an email. Personal training is exactly that...PERSONAL! I like to keep it that way.

Hi Rob. I do use both Facebook and Twitter to interact with my clients and with potential clients. What I find works best for me is to use each of those sites for informational purposes, not sales.
I hope that this helps.
