Do you see a potential in delivering live fitness classes online (video/audio live streaming)?
Do you see a potential in delivering classes live online (video/audio live streaming) using computer/tablets with cams , where you can see up to 20 of your students live, interact with them and the students can see live the trainer and up to 3 of their workout buddy friends (feel more motivated)...we can also capture the heart beat rate/cal burn and display it on the screen and share it(technically possible)
Do you think there is a demand for live online classes?
Do you see yourself delivering or attending a live online fitness class ?
What type of feature will really be important ?
It will be great to have your feedback since I am exploring this idea.
thank you very much

Honestly, with the ability to track and display in real time the heart rates of everybody in the class could be better than in person boot camps. Interesting concept.

Hmmm .... I am wondering about the logistics. As an instructor, I need the set-up to teach a class (camera, space, etc.), teach a class while monitoring 20 students on ... what? iPad? .... Teaching group exercise in person, I know that form is often more important than heart rate, and I am trying to visualize that.
And then there is the front-end of advertising, the question of payment.
It is an interesting idea ..... but I would give the processes some thought before you go deeper into the design.

I don't think I would. I enjoy the personal attention that can only be provided in person. I have run classes with multiple HR monitors though, and it was amazing.

Thanks Stephen for the feedback. Yes personal attention is key for a lot of people.
We hope our solution will be a fit for people that are too far from a gym, too busy, too self-conscious to join a class.... Our solution gives more attention than a recorded fitness DVD/cable classes.

Thanks Karin and Shawn for your feedbacks.
About the logistics, You can teach from home , you can use the TV as a display if you want (hdmi cable from your pc/mac/or tablets) and you use the camera of you laptop/tablet. You need a good internet bandwidth.
You can have the same setup in a fitness club. You can interact with the students individually if needed, maybe you do a pause and look at each one to see if they are performing the moves well etc... small group classes might be optimum.
But if you have real participants next to you that are part of the class, then you might not have time to interact individually with your online students , they will just watch and listen to you. But the online students can see and interact with each other (up to 3 live friends) so they dont feel "alone" working out in their living room following you.
We would like to build a sort of marketplace for online live workout classes and student search and register to a class (all integrated to social networks), invite their friends to join etc... regarding payments, we still need to think about this one and targeted ads too maybe :)
We built already a prototype to test out the technology. Still a lot to develop. Hopefully in january we will start to test run it on real workout sessions. Maybe you can try it out :)
Right now I am collecting feedback, pros/cons, ideas etc... dont hesitate to share more thought.
thanks again.

Excellent ideas. Re your payments: I use online invoicing through Pay Pal. It's the most cost effective and easier. There's a couple of different ways to set it up. If you need help with this, contact me at cfenwickmhrsd@aol.com and I will walk you through how to do it.

Hi,Jil!
Yes,I see a big potential in delivering sessions online - You really may catch clients everywhere and every time.
With regards,Miroslava.(In this moment in Baltimore).

Yes and No
It could be a logistics nightmare, yet again, with everyone so "connected" these days it could work for many
However:
I am not convinced that online workouts can or will replace a human and the contact and connection we bring to our clients

Hi Susan, thanks for your feedback. Can you tell me more about your logistics concern? thanks again.

I would be concerned about safety factors, if a person fell or slipped how would you assist them?
I would be concerned about being able to see each person at all times and be able to give quick modifications without disrupting everyone else
Having hr monitors is great but there is more to BPminute than a number, would you be able to see or tell if a particpant looked like they were going to pass out?
What if someones computer is down, or you can't access someone? Who pays for that session?
My other concern would be accountability, how will you charge for this? If they miss the workout will you still get paid?
Who would administer CPR or and AED response?
It seems a bit impersonal but I do realize computers are the way of the world
My intention is not to discourage you!!
