Do you prefer online learning for CECs on in-person (conferences, workshops, etc)?

Do you like online learning tools? Do you learn as much as an in-class session? Do you think the prices are fair?

I much prefer an in-person experience; there's the opportunity for actual live chatting, questioning, debating, case studies, role playing, networking, professional exchange of information/advice, all in real time, imagine that! Guess I'm showing my age with that:)....

However, I have done a couple of online courses for CECs and they definitely have their advantages: no travel time or expense, you can work within your own schedule (to a point), you don't have to talk with anyone (if you're not in the mood). I found the price to be fair, considering the points above.

I much rather take CeCs in person. I have taken a few online courses because I was curious about the process. I found them not very stimulating.

Fortunately, I can go to IDEA World every year and take occasionally additional courses and am always awash in CeCs. However, the expense for travel is substantial and makes for a lot of money per CeC hour.

The online versions are a good alternative.

I love the accessibility of online learning. I've learned that live doesn't necessarily translate into quality education.

Nor does online learning imply quality, either. I utilize both, but you are right in pointing out how much more accessible the web is than conference workshops. :)

Hi Megan,
I prefer live conferences for my CEC's/CEU's as you also have the opportunity to network and ask the presenter questions or more information.

Online CEU's/CEC's are also benefical, especially when you find that you're short of your required hours!

Online is the only real format I have available to me in Alaska...I would love some in person CEC's. The only in person thing I have done is my USAW certification..did that in Vegas so it was fun lol

It depends. For ease of taking the CEU course, and for cost I'd choose online. For hands-on experience, for networking and to re=energize myself I'd definitely choose in-person education.

Because I'm a working mom, I preffer to do them online or at home. Whenever I can take the time away, I do love learning in person. I think you get a different perspective, and good tips from an instructor.

Online, mainly for the ease of it. In- person for certain subjects does have it's benifits too.

Hello Megan,
I like both of them. At home can provide a time frame that can suit your schedule. Workshops can be fun, meet new people in your field ask questions but at a higher cost if you have to travel or miss any appointments.

Sincerely,
Michael
