Do you plan your workouts or do you just try to get them done?
For example... Do you have your workout time scheduled on a calendar? Do you know if you will be doing a cardio, strength, or core workout each day? Is the length of time for exercises pre-determined? Do you have a specific game plan for working out? Or, do you do what comes to you each day?
I listen to my body. My mind may have an agenda as to what body part to train, but I may not be fully recovered from a previous training session so I choose an alternate body part.
As for time, my schedule dictates when I train and I put my clients first.
As for length, that can change based on the type of training, intensity and body part chosen for that day.
I hope that this helps.
For weights, I would love to do a little more than I'm currently doing. I have 5 weight training classes a week (semi-private personal training) and after those classes, I train 2-3 muscle groups hard. This minimizes the amount of time I have my kids in the gym childcare and eliminates extra trips to the gym. Sub-optimal, but it works for now. I try to hit everything twice a week, and will do different exercises each time I
Even rare, there are also days when I decide to do nothing at all !
I weight train two to three times a week and hill hike most everyday
I mix things up and keep the intensity high
