Do any of you video blog?
I am curious to know how many of you use a video medium to blog with vs. a typical written blog. Just recently one of my professors has suggested that I use my persuasive speech as a marketing tool by posting it to youtube and I am curious to know how many of you do that

Hey Shawn. I've started creating a ton of video that I use for blogs as well as freebies to capture opt-in leads on my website. My site is under reconstruction right now, but I have several videos on my home page if you want to check it out: www.InnerStateCoaching.com
Creating relationships with our potential clients is key, especially in this day and age of technology. Video allows you to create relationships much better than written. I believe that if you're not on board with getting video out there, you're going to fall behind in marketing terms.
Video is simple to create. For under $150 I created a 'home studio' to shoot video at any time. I have a teleprompter app for my Iphone and I use iMovie and Screenflow to edit my videos. I use YouTube for shorter videos and ScreenCast for longer videos I want to post.
I find the more I do it, the easier it gets. I can create a video and have it posted in 1-2 hours. Not bad!
Best of luck to you!

It never even crossed my mind. Even after reading your rationale, I would not try it. While I consider myself fairly eloquent, I will inevidently trip myself up when I have a video camera in front of me. It sounds not worth the trouble to me.

I never considered it either, but I think I am going to try and figure it out.

Karin, for the first time, I disagree. Why not try it?

Well .... I'll think about it .....

Start know. You don't have to post anything. But, starting now will let you work on your presentation and you will get better. Progress comes from stepping out of our comfort zone. Good luck.

With so much egging on, I'll put it on my list of New Year's Resolutions :-)

I've never done it! I did love my college speech course though. I put a ton of effort into it. If you had a killer persuasive speech, and you are confident about it, and you want to post it, then do it. I think it could be a great idea; like a commercial of sorts. The real trick is getting traffic to it. If you are doing that through a successful blog then double the awesome.
Yeah my professor said it would draw organic traffic to my site and help to establish myself in the community as a solid professional.

The thing is, a video is supposed to draw higher hits on google ranking rather than just buying adds. John Spencer Ellis the founder of NESTA has a fitness fortunes group that I am a part of and he highly suggests that fitness professionals take advantage of pretty much free top end google search results. Something about the success of Youtube has created a higher refresh rate on videos than written pages.
I would love to, but I'm unsure of how all that would work with Snap. Even though I'm an independent contractor, I'm and independent contractor with Snap... I'll have to check the rules. Off hand, I don't see anything in my contract that specifically prohibits it. I'll be doing good to get my "boss" to fill out the Snap Statesboro page on here that I created!

Shawn, go for it. It is highly recommended by many people who are successful in social media. Post links to the video blog in your regular blog, on facebook, here, linkedin, twitter, google+, wherever you are signed up and put as many tags on it as you can. The search potential is huge. I haven't started yet, but have been thinking about how to get myself set up. Hopefully I will have everything ready to go by mid-January.

I'm a visual learning so like to get videos instead of worksheets. That's why I have started but am still working on my presentations.
