You can make a living at Personal Training in Ethiopia if you are good enough. If you are having trouble getting your clientele started, I would recommend taking sales training, making sure you know your stuff, presenting yourself with passion and enthusiasm to your prospects, and always be up beat and fun to be around. Your ability to grow your clientele is a direct reflection of who you are being and how you come across to that potential client. People want to be inspired and will gravitate to those who inspire them. So ask yourself, are you being inspirational? Also remember, two things must be created in the consultation session to sell personal training; Value and Relationship. Are you creating both?

Absolutely! If you are passionate about what you do, if you truly practice what you preach and if you fit the personal trainer persona. People can hear it in your voice when you have overcome the challenges they are facing regarding fitness. There are many people in San Diego who value prevention in regards to health and will hire someone to help them stay ahead of the health curve. Small Group Training is becoming more popular, but there is always a place for one on one.
I came here 7 years ago, started personal training 5 years ago and have had endless opportunities and plenty to keep me busy. I think it is majorly due to staying well networked and connected in the community. Idea is a great platform to start meeting people who can help you get on your feet in this town!

As a fitness professional in San Diego, you can make a living as a personal trainer, as I have for over 6+ years. As Natalie mentioned, SD is a fitness city, so there's a ton of competition, so what's going to make your services rise above everyone elses. Marketing yourself/business, promoting your "brand", will help you increase your exposure and help increase your business. What are some trends going around in the city and how can you adapt to those trends.

You can make a living as a personal trainer anywhere if you make yourself stand out. San Diego is a fitness city that is saturated with Fitness Professionals however it's the unique professionals that make the BEST living. All trainers can teach how to exercise and/or lose weight. Make yourself unique by becoming an expert in a specific area. Specialize in a population and then continue to educate yourself about this population. Become the local "go to" trainer for this population. Learn to teach in a variety of ways...individual, small group, large group, lecture, motivational, write articles about your population etc. This will make you more marketable. Make yourself stand out and become the "expert". Remember....all personal trainers can do the basics. What area of fitness are you passionate about? Excel at this and you'll do more than make a living!
