Are there certifications or trainings for hiking yoga?
Starting to see hiking + yoga options gain popularity. Are there any certifications or classes geared toward teaching this type of fusion?

There currently is no certification for that combination and I'm not so sure there should be. I find that when classes are blended like that, it's very hard to get good quality.
That said, why not just combine the classes you need and be extra credentialed. Here's what I did: first, I was already a yoga teacher with a passion for hiking and quite a bit of experience BUT leading others on a trail can be tricky since there are a lot of variables (read: snakes, overheating, etc.) that need to be dealt with. I took a basic hiking course and a wilderness survival training class through REI so that I felt prepared enough to take people into the "bush". Well, ok it's not the "bush", just local hikes in LA but you getting my meaning! :)

There was a class offered at the last Yoga Journal Conf. that was held in San Fran., CA this year. I tried to sign up for it but it was completely booked; it was a very popular combination. I do not know if there is a cert. available for it but check with Yoga Journal and see who the instructor is for the next one coming up.

You can find many quality yoga teacher training programs. Find one that also covers yoga therapy and rehabilitation techniques, as well. I've been teaching yoga for over 20 years, and started skiing 6 years ago. It was easy for me to create sequences for skiing and snowboarding since I have experience in both.
